Home General

No. You are not legally required to insure your house. When taking out a mortgage however, the bank (that takes your house as collateral) is likely to require you to take out home insurance.

The terms & conditions of the insurance can be found on our website, click here.

Yes and no. If you move to a new address then you will no longer need home insurance on the old address and you may cancel your home insurance.

Home contents however, move with you to the new address and still need to be insured.

Please note that you need to have the address on the policy changed for the contents to remain insured. If your home contents are temporarily divided between two addresses, we recommend you to let us know.

Not as a rule, but it is recommended to insure your home and contents with the same insurer in order to make any settlements in case of a claim go as smoothly as possible.

With BSure, insurance of your home contents (to a maximum insured amount) is included free of charge in your home insurance.

You can insure improvements that you make to a rented house and that you pay for (a new kitchen, bathroom, sunscreen etc.) as Tenant Improvements. Details can be found in the policy conditions.

If a house burns down completely or if an explosion occurs, the foundation will also be damaged and will therefore need to be rebuilt.

If you have indicated on the application that you have outbuildings that need to be insured, they are included in the insured amount.

To determine this, use this simple rule: everything immovably attached to the house is covered by the house insurance; everything else by the home contents insurance. For example, a click-laminate floor falls under home contents insurance, yet a glued wooden floor under home insurance.

BSure offers home insurance standard on a one-year contract that will be renewed annually.

You can cancel you insurance from the day it is renewed.

When switching to BSure, please note that you probably have to observe a notice period (usually of two months prior to the main termination date) with your current insurer. You can find the exact notice period in the terms and conditions of your current insurance.

Your house is insured for the rebuild value. This is the amount needed to rebuild your home in the same place, with the same size and for the same purpose.

Sometimes you will need to calculate the rebuild value yourself. For a newly built house, the rebuild value is the purchase value with the added cost of - for example - an upgraded bathroom or kitchen. The value of the land is not included. For an existing home, you can determine the rebuild value through a recent (less than 3 years old) valuation of a certified appraiser or real estate agent.

No, this is not the same. The rebuild value is the amount needed to rebuild your home on the same location, with the same size and for the same purpose. The purchase price is the value of the house, including the land on which it stands.

Home / Contents Premium

Yes. You can choose between annual or monthly payments.

BSure collects the premium on the 28th of each month. If the premium cannot be collected you will not be insured.

We advise you to always have sufficient funds in your account so we can collect on the 28th.

If the premium for your insurance is not or not fully paid, the coverage of your insurance is withdrawn and your house and / or contents are not insured.

Home / Contents Damage

To determine this, use this simple rule: everything immovably attached to the house is covered by the house insurance; everything else by the home contents insurance. For example, a click-laminate floor falls under home contents insurance, yet a glued wooden floor under home insurance.

Do you rent your house or an apartment? Then a portion of the house may be insured on your contents insurance as Tenant Improvements. These are changes or improvements to the kitchen or bathroom you made on your own behalf. You can claim damages to Tenant Improvements on your contents insurance for up to 10% of the insured amount. Other damages to the house should be claimed from the landlord.

BSure provides coverage for damage resulting from fire, scorching, burglary and water amongst others. For a complete overview of the coverage, consult your policy.

Not always. Please check with BSure first.

Are urgent repairs critical to prevent more damage? Then you can have the repairs done immediately after you have informed us of the damage. Is there no immediate need for repair? In that we usually will want to examine the damage first.

Yes, normally you do. You then send the bill to us. If the damages are covered under your insurance, we will credit your account.

  1. First contact the police for the official investigation. Then report to the police station to give an account of what exactly happened and what items were damaged or stolen.

When you later find that more items were stolen or damaged, you can file an additional report. The police will give you copy of each report.

  2. Report the damage as soon as possible to BSure. We will send you a claim form.

  3. Fill out the form, sign it and send it to us with the purchase invoices. We make sure that your claim is processed as soon as possible.

This depends on the nature and extent of the damage.

As a general rule, with damages of over Naf 1500.- an expert will be called upon. Smaller claims are usually settled with repair and purchase invoices. Of course, we reserve the right to also send an expert for smaller claims. In addition to assessing the extent of damages, an expert also determines the cause of them.

Basically, you are insured for the replacement value. You therefore claim the current replacement value if an item has been lost or destroyed entirely. If repair is possible, you will be reimbursed for the repair costs, often supplemented by an additional compensation for the loss of value of the item(s).

First contact BSure to request a claim form. Fill it out, sign it and return it with all relevant documentation such as purchase receipts. We will process the claim as soon as possible. We may send an inspector to assess the damage, so it is important that you do not discard the damaged items right away.

Try to limit the damage and let items dry as soon as possible.

Please contact us in case of permanent damage. We will send you a claim form. Fill it out, sign it and return it with all relevant documentation such as purchase receipts. We will process the claim as soon as possible. We may send an inspector to assess the damage, so it is important that you do not discard the damaged items right away.
